Operations Diagnostic
A focused review of how work moves from enquiry to delivery, highlighting the bottlenecks that cost you time, goodwill, and overtime.
Format
On-site visit plus remote follow-up
Typical duration
Typically 2–3 weeks from kickoff to readout
Fee basis
Fixed project fee from £4,800
Who it is for
Managing directors, operations managers, and owner-operators of small and mid-sized companies in manufacturing, distribution, field service, or multi-site retail support who sense that “busy” no longer means “in control.”
Result you can expect
A plain-language picture of where orders stall, which handovers drop information, and which three to five changes will free the most capacity in the next quarter — plus a practical sequence for introducing those changes without freezing day-to-day work.
Scope included
- Kickoff call to agree sites, product lines, and the decision you need to make
- One to two site walks covering production, packing, stores, and the office desks that feed them
- Interviews with supervisors and the people who chase late work
- A simple flow map of enquiry → order → fulfilment → invoice
- A written readout with priorities, owners, and a 90-day trial plan
- One follow-up call two weeks after the readout to adjust the plan
Excluded
- Software selection or system implementation
- Full financial restructuring or HR investigations
- Multi-country programmes (we work UK-first; overseas sites need a separate scope)
How we work
- Listen — you describe the pain (late jobs, overtime spikes, rework, or unclear ownership).
- Walk the work — we follow a live order or job card through the building.
- Map the handovers — especially where verbal habits replace written agreements.
- Prioritise — we rank fixes by effort versus relief, not by fashion.
- Leave a trial plan — small enough to start next week, clear enough to measure.
Delivery
Usually delivered at your UK premises with remote drafting between visits. Edendonich meetings are available when a neutral table helps.
Preparation
Please share anonymised order lists for a typical month, a floor plan if you have one, and access to the supervisors who know the workarounds. No polished presentation is required.
Constraints
We need honest access to the shop floor and the admin desks. If two directors disagree on the problem, we will surface that early rather than paper over it.
Next step
Request a conversation and mention “Operations Diagnostic.” We will confirm fit and outline a fee before any visit is booked.
